Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
  • 3/4 cup cold buttermilk
  • 1 lb beef sausage
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 large eggs, scrambled
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1/2 cup diced bell peppers (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Biscuit Dough: Preheat oven to 425°F. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until coarse crumbs. Stir in cold buttermilk until dough forms. Pat into rectangle, cut into rounds/squares, place on parchment-lined sheet, and bake 12-15 minutes.
  2. Make Sausage Gravy: Cook sausage over medium heat until browned. Sprinkle flour, stir to coat. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Assemble Breakfast Pizza: Preheat oven to 375°F. Arrange biscuits on greased pizza pan. Spoon sausage gravy over biscuits. Top with shredded cheddar, scrambled eggs, green onions, and bell peppers.
  4. Bake and Serve: Bake 8-10 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Let rest 2 minutes. Slice and serve warm.
