Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
3/4 cup cold buttermilk
1 pound beef sausage
1/4 cup all-purpose flour (for gravy)
2 cups whole milk
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 large eggs, scrambled
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1/2 cup diced bell peppers (optional)
Instructions
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare biscuit dough by combining flour, baking powder, salt, and cubed butter. Stir in cold buttermilk to form dough.
Roll out dough, cut into rounds or squares, place on parchment-lined sheet, and bake 12-15 minutes until golden. Cool slightly.
In a skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until browned. Sprinkle 1/4 cup flour, stir, then gradually add milk, stirring until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange baked biscuits on greased baking sheet, press together to form a base.
Pour sausage gravy over biscuit base, sprinkle cheddar cheese, top with scrambled eggs, green onions, and bell peppers if using.
Bake 8-10 minutes until cheese melts and bubbly. Slice into squares and serve warm.
