Ingredients
Sloppy Joe Filling: 1 lb ground beef (80/20), 1 small onion diced, 2 cloves garlic minced, 1/4 cup ketchup, 2 tbsp tomato paste, 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp mustard, salt and pepper to taste
Assembly: 4 hamburger buns, toasted; 1/2 cup shredded lettuce; 1/4 cup chopped onions; 4 pickle slices; 2 slices American cheese (optional)
Instructions
Make the Special Sauce: Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish, garlic powder, and onion powder in a small bowl. Set aside.
Cook the Beef: In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef and diced onion until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain fat. Add garlic, ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer 3–5 minutes.
Assemble the Sloppy Joes: Spread special sauce on bottom bun. Spoon beef mixture on top. Add shredded lettuce, chopped onions, pickles, and cheese if desired. Top with bun.
Serve & Enjoy: Serve warm with fries or chips. Optional: cut top bun in half horizontally to mimic a classic Big Mac layer.
