  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9×5-inch metal loaf pan and set aside.
  2. Mash the bananas in a small bowl and set aside.
  3. Cream butter and both sugars in a large bowl for 2–3 minutes until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla; mix well.
  5. Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt into wet ingredients. Fold until just combined.
  6. Fold in 3/4 cup of the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle remaining chocolate chips on top.
  8. Bake 50–60 minutes, or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean.
  9. Allow bread to cool at least 20 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra chocolate, sprinkle more chips on top before baking.
  • Use very ripe bananas for best flavor and moisture.
  • Store tightly covered at room temperature for up to 3 days.
