Oven-Baked Cabbage Burgers are a healthy twist on the classic burger, using cabbage slices as a base and topped with flavorful meat and optional cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 small head cabbage, cut into thick slices
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, for brushing
  • 1 pound ground beef, turkey, chicken, or plant-based protein
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 large egg (optional, for binding)
  • 1 cup cheese (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Slice cabbage into thick ½ inch slices and brush both sides with olive oil.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, onion, garlic, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Add egg if using.
  4. Form meat mixture into patties and place on cabbage slices.
  5. Bake for 25 minutes until fully cooked.
  6. Optional: sprinkle cheese on top and broil 3–5 minutes until melted.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with parsley if desired.
