Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger (or 1/2 tsp ground ginger)
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 cups cooked rice (white, brown, or cauliflower)
  • Optional toppings: green onions, sesame seeds, shredded carrots, cucumber slices

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Add minced garlic and ginger; cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Stir in brown sugar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Serve the beef mixture over cooked rice.
  6. Top with green onions, sesame seeds, or vegetables if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust red pepper flakes to control spiciness.
  • Use cauliflower rice for a low-carb option.
  • Leftovers store well in the fridge for 2–3 days.
