Garlic Bread Grilled Cheese – the ultimate mashup of two comfort food classics! Crispy, buttery garlic bread on the outside, melted mozzarella and sharp white cheddar on the inside. This golden, gooey sandwich comes together in minutes and is pure perfection with a bowl of tomato soup.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices crusty Italian or French bread (thick-cut)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded sharp white cheddar cheese
  • 1 pinch salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic, chopped parsley, and salt. Let it rest for a few minutes to infuse the flavors.
  2. Spread the garlic butter mixture generously on one side of each bread slice.
  3. Layer shredded mozzarella and cheddar between two slices of bread, keeping the buttered sides on the outside.
  4. Heat a nonstick or cast iron skillet over medium-low heat.
  5. Add the sandwich and cook for 3–4 minutes on each side, pressing gently with a spatula until the bread is golden and the cheese has melted.
  6. Remove from heat, let rest for 1 minute, slice, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use medium-low heat to ensure the bread doesn’t burn before the cheese melts.
  • Mixing the garlic butter ahead of time allows for better flavor infusion.
  • For extra crunch, add a sprinkle of parmesan on the outside before toasting.
  • Use sourdough or Texas toast for a different texture and flavor.
  • Add crispy bacon, sliced tomato, or caramelized onions for a gourmet twist.
  • For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or a pinch of cayenne to the garlic butter.
  • Serve with tomato soup, marinara sauce, or creamy tomato bisque for dipping.
  • Best enjoyed immediately while hot and melty.
