Honey Garlic Chicken is a sweet, savory, and sticky skillet dish made with crispy chicken bites coated in a rich honey garlic sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch + 2 tablespoons cold water (slurry)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Chopped green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Coat chicken with cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook chicken in batches until golden and fully cooked, about 5–7 minutes per side.
  4. Remove chicken and set aside.
  5. In a bowl, whisk honey, soy sauce, water, garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and chili flakes.
  6. Pour sauce into skillet and bring to a simmer.
  7. Mix cornstarch with cold water to make slurry, then slowly whisk into sauce.
  8. Cook until sauce thickens, stirring constantly.
  9. Return chicken to skillet and toss to coat evenly.
  10. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the pan when frying chicken for best crispiness.
  • Adjust sweetness or saltiness by balancing honey and soy sauce.
  • Best served immediately for sticky texture.
